Diversion and Court Support - Mental Health

Program Description

Voluntary program provides case management and supportive services for adults who are considered to have a serious mental illness, a concurrent disorder, dual diagnosis, developmental disability, and/or an acquired brain injury and have been charged with a criminal offence.

Services may include facilitation of legal aid/ retaining legal counsel, linkages to support services, linkages to housing or income supports, education and support for client and/or support persons regarding legal processes, facilitation of alternatives to prosecution when appropriate.

Options include diversion, linkages to service and/or relevant treatment options while in custody and/or community, support while in custody and/ or comprehensive discharge planning for individuals transitioning into community from incarceration.
