Diversion and Court Support - Mental Health

Program Description

Provides support and assistance to individuals who are in contact with the criminal justice system primarily because of a mental disorder. Helps individuals access needed health and human services. Diverts low-risk people with legal involvement who have mental health issues from the criminal justice to the mental health system.

Open to Durham Region residents 16 years of age and over who have a mental illness, have been charged with a class one or two criminal offenses, voluntarily want the service, and are likely to benefit from mental health services.

Access Information

Applications can be made by the individual seeking service or by third-party referral; referring parties include the Crown Attorney's Office, other court personnel (including defense attorneys)
