Program Description

A 10-bed inpatient unit that provides service to adults who are intellectually challenged and exhibit symptoms of a serious mental illness and/or have significant behavioural challenges.

DDS is a clinical service combining the assessment and treatment of developmental challenges with psychiatry to offer patients specialized psychiatric treatment and behavioural programming.

Inclusion criteria:
Must be medically stable and present with an intellectual disability (IQ below 70 diagnosed prior to age 18), serious mental illness and/or associated behavioural challenges.

Access Information

Referrals are accepted from a community physician or psychiatrist.
Referrals are made through Ontario Shores Central Intake.
