Land Acknowledgement

ConnexOntario recognizes that its work, and the work of its participating organizations, take place on traditional Indigenous territories across the province. We acknowledge that more than 40 treaties and other land agreements cover the territory now called Ontario (https://www.ontario.ca/page/map-ontario-treaties-and-reserves).

We are thankful to be able to work and live in these territories. We are thankful to the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people who have cared for these territories and who continue to contribute to the strength of communities across Ontario.

ConnexOntario would also like to acknowledge that the service is located on the traditional lands of the Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapeewak and Attawandaron peoples, on lands connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of 1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum.

We acknowledge historical and ongoing injustices that all Indigenous Peoples – First Nations, Metis and Inuit – have endured in this land we now call Canada.

We accept responsibility as a public institution to contribute towards revealing and correcting miseducation as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous communities through the services we offer to everyone in Ontario.
