Inpatient
Evergreen is a Regional Geriatric Psychiatry Unit.
This unit provides comprehensive, specialized assessment and treatment of older adults with complex, age related, psychiatric needs. These needs may be complicated by behavioural and psychological symptoms and/or comorbidities.
Examples include:
- late-life mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, mania
- late-life psychotic disorders (delusional disorder, schizophrenia)
- psychiatric disorders
- behavioural symptoms associated with complex medical co-morbidities and functional impairment (Parkinson's disease).
Referrals generally will originate with Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO), but self referrals are excepted. All referrals are processed through Central Referral. Call for information.
Referrals require a recent psychiatric assessment which includes preliminary diagnosis and suggested treatment/interventions prior to referral and must be medically stable (however this doesn't preclude admission of patient with potential delirium). All community resources must be exhausted.
