Peer/Self-Help - Mental Health
Trained volunteers provide daily or regular phone calls to seniors, individuals with disabilities and individuals who may live alone or with their families/caregivers. The Tel-Check program assists individuals in continuing to live at home with dignity, respect and independence, and supports individuals who are unable to be in regular contact with the elderly individuals in their lives.
Services provided include:
- A safety check-in and a reassurance call to ensure that the individual is not in need of any assistance
- Emotional and listening support, medication reminders, information on upcoming social events, and connection with other community resources
- Confidentiality - this is a non-judgmental and client-focused service
- Support to family members and caregivers by providing relief to those who have elderly people in their care
Referrals accepted from all sources including self-referrals.
