Counselling and Treatment - Mental Health
Provides comprehensive assessment and treatment based upon an evidence-based, time-limited and best practice approach for clients 18 years and older experiencing symptoms of Traumatic stress/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and who are experiencing a significant impact on emotional, physical, interpersonal and vocational functioning.
Referrals are accepted from psychiatrists, family physicians and nurse practitioners.
Referrals are though Ontario Shores Central Intake.
Inclusion Criteria:
Individuals 18 and over that are experiencing symptoms of traumatic stress/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is recommended that individuals are connected to a Health Care Provider in the community e.g. Family Physician/NP, Nurse Practitioner, Community Psychiatrist who oversee psychiatric care
Symptoms evident for greater than 3 months
Exclusion Criteria:
- Intellectual disability will be looked at on a case by case basis
- Severe Neuro-Cognitive Disorder will be looked at on a case by case basis
- Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) as primary diagnosis or BPD symptoms primary focus of treatment
- Persons with Dementia
- Organic Brain Syndrome and/or mild Acquired Brain Injury, such as reading at a grade 5 level
- Patient is primarily concerned with applications for ODSP/insurance/legal proceedings/CAS assessment
