Support Within Housing - Mental Health
Supportive Housing provides community living for people who have a serious mental illness and require treatment, rehabilitation and support.
The landlords own the buildings and tenants pay rent to the landlord. Medium Support housing is geared for people with a serious mental illness who frequently have difficulty maintaining personal hygiene; meeting nutritional needs; maintaining a household; managing finances and legal issues; accessing transportation; communicating; managing medication and personal health; participating in leisure/social/vocational activities.
The on-site staff, assist tenants with daily living activities such as grocery shopping, cooking, household cleaning, laundry, etc. Community treatment teams work collaboratively with the tenants and the on-site staff to assist the tenants to achieve their optimum level of independent living.
There are 2, 3, and 1 bedroom furnished apartments for individuals living with a serious mental illness requiring 24 hour on-site non-clinical support and access to a clinical treatment team 24/7.
All referrals are processed online through Access Point Northwest. Individuals must have a serious mental illness and require this level of support.
Those with a recent history of physically aggressive behaviour might not be considered. Prior to admission to this program, individuals must be registered with a clinical community treatment team which provides services 24/7. There is a detailed application package which must be completed.
