Program Description

The Geriatric Mental Health Team provides specialized psychiatric assessment and treatment recommendations and behavioural support for older adults with serious mental illness, dementia, and/or challenging behaviours.

Service includes:
- assessment of care needs, support to facilitate recovery, and suggestions for strategic interventions to reduce/ mitigate stigma and symptoms, as well as provide treatment recommendations on a consultative basis.
- partnering with internal and external resources to recommend the most appropriate services to meet patient’s needs.
- support and education to families and stakeholders about complex elder care issues.
