Counselling and Treatment - Mental Health

Program Description

The service is available to all refugees and newcomers in their first three years in Canada. Psychiatric consultation and brief culturally sensitive interventions for newly arrived immigrant and refugees (eg., GARs, PSRs and convention refugees) with psychosocial issues or concerns; Case consultation for community providers with access to psychiatrists and social workers for discussion and advice on client/patient cases.

Access Information

Clients can access services by having a direct referral submitted by a Family Physician or Nurse Practitioner. See website to obtain the referral form and supporting referral instructions.

Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) documentation required (Refugee Protection Claimant Document or Interim Federal Health Program Certificate).
