Counselling and Treatment - Mental Health
Provides outpatient multidisciplinary assessment and treatment services to adolescents (11-17 years) and adults (18 years and over) with eating disorders.
Treatment services offered are primarily group psycho-education and psychotherapy, family/psychosocial therapy, psychological therapy, nutrition education and counselling, and primary healthcare monitoring. Time-limited individual psychotherapy may be offered.
Referrals are accepted from physicians and nurse practitioners.
Referrals are made through Central Connect, by calling or using the referral form available on the website.
Once a referral is made to the program, a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, registered dietitians, social workers, and a nurse practitioner conduct an assessment. This process involves a psycho-diagnostic assessment carried out by a psychologist, a nutrition assessment conducted by the dietitian, and a family/psychosocial assessment carried out by the social worker and a physical health assessment is carried out by a nurse practitioner. Once the assessment process is completed, the diagnosis and treatment recommendations are discussed with the client and their family and a treatment plan is made.
