Diversion and Court Support - Mental Health
Individual is assessed for eligibility for diversion from criminal charges due to a mental health condition. Information is provided to the individual, to family members, judges, crown attorneys, as well as defense attorneys regarding general court procedures and specific mental health issues. Staff prepare a diversion plan in consultation with the individual and works with the crown attorney to have the plan approved. Staff provide and/or arrange for case management and other forms of support for the individual accepted into the Court Diversion program as needed. A completed mental health diversion plan results in a stay of the charges.
