Early Psychosis Intervention

Program Description

The Regional Early Intervention program provides comprehensive services to optimize the quality of life of individuals in the community who are or may be experiencing early episode psychosis through the process of comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment.

Staff works to provide services/education to clients and their families to assist with the process of recovery and rehabilitation. This program is offered on an outpatient basis.

Access Information

All referrals are accepted through the Early Intervention staff.

Individuals must be experiencing psychosis; with symptoms that have not been treated in more than 12 months.

Exclusionary criteria:
- psychosis is secondary to a medical condition (including organic brain syndrome and traumatic brain injury)
- presence of a developmental disorder (e.g., autism, pervasive developmental disorder)
- IQ is less than 70
- individual is experiencing neurological problems.

All referrals are assessed to determine appropriateness for program and may be referred to a more appropriate service if needed.
