Early Psychosis Intervention

Program Description

The Early Psychosis Intervention Program aims to reduce the duration of untreated psychosis by promoting early identification of psychosis and establishing resources and enhancing mental health services for young people with suspected and first episode psychosis.

Program provides comprehensive assessment, individualized treatment/counselling and goal planning, supportive services for family members, symptom and medication monitoring, health promotion with an emphasis on wellness, and relapse prevention. Multidisciplinary services include substance use counselling, psychiatry, social work, nursing, family support, peer support, occupational therapy and education coordination. Assistance with needs such as education, employment, housing, substance use, and life skills development.

Provides education and assistance to health care professionals dealing with early psychosis, schools, community organizations and the general public.

Access Information

Anyone can make a referral. If you or someone you know, is suspected to have or has early stages of psychosis that has not received treatment for more than six months and resides with in the North Simcoe Muskoka Region, you can make a referral. Referral forms are available by fax or request by phone. A prompt assessment will be completed by the Early Psychosis Intervention team member.
