Counselling and Treatment - Mental Health
NOSP’s goal to provide Specialized Community Support – Children Assessment and Counselling (9256) is to counsel families with children under the age of 18 with a developmental disability in identifying and accessing services, assist in developing and implementing appropriate plans and counsel children, with a developmental disability, and their caregivers in developing a personal Care Plan based on the principles of person centered planning, self-determination and choice while providing referrals and services reflective of the plan.
NOSP does not have the funded capacity to provide specialized capacity or expertise, however, because we have community based counsellors NOSP’s primary role is to work with families to gain access to the specialized expertise such as OT/PT through George Jeffrey’s Children Centre or early years speech; language through Children’s Centre Thunder Bay; or respite services through Wesway.
