Outpatient Clinic - Mental Health

Program Description

Provides time-limited psychiatric consultation, diagnosis and treatment recommendations for individuals with mental health issues.

Access Information

Physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant's referral required. If the referral is not made by a family doctor, information for family physician who will implement the psychiatry recommendations is required. Referrals can be submitted to one-Link.

Clinical considerations: 
1. Experiencing symptoms of depressive and anxiety disorders (including PTSD and OCD). Must already have received more than 6 months of meaningful treatment with antidepressant medications (evidence of two antidepressant medication trials within the episode of illness). 
2. Experiencing symptoms of a psychotic disorder. Must already have received more than 6 months of meaningful treatment with an antipsychotic medication. Flag these referrals as “Psychiatric Consultation – Psychosis Symptoms. 
3. Dual diagnosis: Appropriate when mental health issue is the prominent concern (2 medication trials still apply).
