Youth Mental Health Court Support and Diversion Program

Type Of Service

Diversion and Court Support - Mental Health

Program Description

A Youth Mental Health Court Worker (YMHCW) provides support to youth ages 12-17 involved in the Youth Justice system with mental health needs. This worker can assist with linking youth that are experiencing conflict with the law to appropriate mental health services as well as connecting them to other community resources that they may require.

Access Information

Referrals for court support are accepted from self, parents/guardians, or the Courts. Please call or complete the online referral form.

Referrals for court diversion come from the courts. Should the courts determine or suspect that a youth has mental health needs that may be contributing to their conflict with the law, they may suggest a mental health diversion. In this instance, the worker will facilitate the development of a mental health diversion agreement. This is done collaboratively working with the youth and their family to develop a plan to access and receive appropriate mental health services.
