Outpatient Clinic - Mental Health
This program serves children and youth presenting with mental health concerns (s). A direct, one-time consultation with a mental health specialist that can help to provide diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, medication review, assist in managing safety risk, etc.
Consultations are offered via video conferencing (OTN / Zoom Healthcare).
There are two pathways to access this service:
1. Child/youth must be referred by a physician or nurse practitioner directly to SickKids.
2. If child/youth does not have a medical provider, they can be referred by a case manager. A case manager can be any publicly funded child youth mental health provider working with children and youth (i.e., family health teams, youth hubs, school boards, friendship centres, etc.). Referring case manager must complete a Tele-Mental Health Services (TMHS) Referral Package and send it to the Coordinating Agency dedicated to servicing their community.
For referral forms and to find your coordinating agency, please visit TMHS Web page.
TMHS does not provide court-ordered/custody/parenting capacity assessments. No youth justice assessments for court purposes. No immediate risk assessments.
