Counselling and Treatment - Mental Health
A 10-week outpatient program offers family caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's or related illness living at home a combination of practical, hands-on skills training and emotional support.
Caregivers will learn how to deal with emotional stress and common challenging situations while in a support-group setting. The goal is to reduce their vulnerability and thereby enhance their capacity to provide care for their family members with dementia by teaching them effective interventions through its unique therapeutic training program using skill building and psychotherapy in a sophisticated group therapy program.
Clients must meet the following eligibility criteria: be a family member of a person who has been given a diagnosis of dementia, and the family member provides direct or indirect care and support to the person with dementia.
Self-referrals are welcome. All referrals are processed through a central point access.
