Bed-Based Treatment - Substance Use
Wakenagun Youth Healing Lodge is a live-in service for Indigenous youth with substance use and mental health issues. The program focuses on healing through culture and land-based healing. Teaching surrounding the 7 grandfathers, medicine wheel, medicines and the drum are paramount in helping youth begin to see things through a traditional lens. Over the course of the program we focus on the body (stabilization), the mind (education), the emotions (healing), and the spirit (transition).
Dedicated two spirit and transgender program cycle is available.
Self-referrals are accepted. Youth, regardless of gender identity, can contact us through a referral or by phone. Families/ caregivers can call for more information.
Upon intake, applicants will need to complete: an application, a screening process, consent forms, and arrange a travel plan.
Travel can be self-directed but if travel is a financial barrier, we can do an application for Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) to assist with travel for admission and travel upon graduation.
Programs cycle between all-male gendered cohorts/all-female gendered cohorts. If applicants don’t identify as male/female we can let them choose which gendered cohort they would prefer.
