Outpatient Clinic - Mental Health
Modelled after clinics that adopt an interdisciplinary approach to brain medicine, the Neuropsychiatry Clinic is intended for patients living in Northeastern Ontario with co-occurring psychiatric and neurological symptoms, particularly those with cognitive
deficits. We conduct cognitive assessments, order relevant investigations (imaging, genetic testing), diagnose psychiatric conditions including neurocognitive disorders, and offer treatment recommendations.
Primary Care referrals only.
Please use the general outpatient psychiatry clinic referral form and specify one of the following reasons for referral:
Reasons For Referral (RFR):
1. Neurological patient (e.g., MS, ALS, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease) with cognitive or other psychiatric symptoms (depression, anxiety, psychosis).
2. Diagnostic assessment and treatment for patients 65yo with cognitive symptoms (early onset Alzheimer’s, bvFTD and aphasias, etc)
3. Single Consultation for Management Recommendations (documentation detailing prior diagnosis from neurologist required):
a. Functional Neurological Disorder
b. Traumatic Brain Injury
4. Psychiatric patient (e.g., bipolar disorder, psychotic illness) with cognitive symptoms
