Family Support - Mental Health
Enhancing Care for Ontario Care Partners helps care partners across Ontario manage the stress and complexities of caring for persons living with dementia.
Developed by the Reitman Centre, Sinai Health - this provincial program is provided in the Southeast region by Providence Care’s Seniors Mental Health Behavioural Support Services.
To help address some of the challenges faced by care partners, two groups are offered:
1. CARERS – (Coaching, Advocacy, Respite, Education, Relationship, Simulation)
This is a skills-based group for care partners of a person living with dementia. Participants learn practical skills, problem-solving techniques, communication methods, and approaches to managing emotional stress which are tailored to the specific problems and needs of each care partner.
2. TEACH – (Training, Education and Assistance for Caregiving at Home)
TEACH is an interactive group for care partners of a person living with dementia. Care partners may discuss themes such as self-care and future planning while learning from each other.
Groups are offered both virtually and in-person across the Southeast region to partners, spouses, siblings, adult children and other family members and friends.
Self-referrals are welcome, call or email for referral.
