Diversion and Court Support - Mental Health
Support program for individuals with mental illness who are currently involved in the legal system.
- Psychiatric and psychosocial assessments including diagnosis and treatment recommendations at various stages of court proceedings
- Individual counselling and therapy
- Group treatment that may include anger release and management; social skills training; family therapy and mediation; and support groups
- Pharmacotherapy
- Community services including education and mental health promotion
- Education and consultation to mental health professionals, support workers and members of the public
- Participation in research aiming at a better understanding of individuals with mental illness who are involved in the legal system
All referrals must be made from a source connected directly to the criminal justice system (i.e. lawyers including duty counsel, probation, parole, court program, bail program).
All referrals require OHIP and screening.
Eligibility Criteria:
Individual must have active criminal court issues and a psychiatric issue or concern.
