Program Description

The Seniors Mental Health inpatient service meets the needs of older adults with age-related cognitive and functional impairment with responsive behaviours. These usually include severe aggression, disinhibition, or other behaviours which are difficult to manage in other settings. Services are also provided to individuals who are suffering from severe age-related mental illness, or who may require admission under the Mental Health Act.

Access Information

If admission to inpatient is deemed as the most appropriate intervention, the admission is facilitated by the triage nurse at Providence Care. On those occasions when a potential admission has not been reviewed by a community team due to urgency or accessibility, contact can be made to the triage nurse at Providence Care.
