Counselling and Treatment - Mental Health
This program provides multidisciplinary assessment and treatment to individuals who are in conflict with the law for sexual behaviour and/or are concerned about sexual behaviours/interests involving paraphilias (atypical sexual interests) or that could lead to arrest. This can include, but is not limited to, sexual interest or involvement with:
• pre-pubescent and/or pubescent children;
• exposing to, touching, watching or rubbing up against unsuspecting people for sexual gratification;
• coercive or violent sexual interests;
• child sexual exploitation images (child pornography); or
• animals
The initial assessment consists of an interview and may include phallometric assessment or psychological testing. Treatment options can include therapy, referrals to other clinics/programs at CAMH, and a sex-drive reducing medication consultation with a psychiatrist.
We also provide brief family support/psychoeducation to families of people who have been convicted of sexual offences or are engaging in sexual behaviours that could get them into trouble with the law
Clients can self-refer or be referred by a physician or a probation/ parole officer through Access CAMH. See website for referral forms.
