Program Description

The 6-bed Emergency Psychiatric Unit provides 24/7 service for individuals who present in the Emergency Department at Humber River Hospital with mental health concerns. Services are offered to both adults and the child and adolescent population and include crisis assessment, immediate crisis intervention, stabilization and discharge planning.

Patients who are transferred to EPU must be medically stable and their primary presenting problem must be psychiatric in nature.
