24-hour drop-in for women and trans people from across Toronto who experience first hand the impact of marginalization and poverty. They may be homeless, or are at risk of becoming homeless. Offers practical and emotional support to women and trans people through programs providing information and referral to housing, education, health care, therapists, drug and alcohol treatment, legal services, case management and other community agencies and organizations. Also provides counselling, crisis intervention, advocacy and emotional support to women who have experienced violence and trauma. This peer-run program's objective is to empower women with substance use issues by providing them with training in a host of topics related to street involvement, HIV/AIDS, and substance use. These peer outreach workers work with women who are living on the streets or working in the sex trade to provide them with information about sexual safety, harm reduction, and violence prevention and reporting. Peer trainers are paid, and the program provides them with a first step to employment.
