Focus: Mental Health
The Regional Eating Disorders Program provides expertise in the area of assessment and treatment of children and youth who present with severe and complex eating disorders. The program includes an inpatient unit, a partial hospitalization program, a day treatment program and outpatient services. Inpatient services include interdisciplinary assessment, medical stabilization, nutritional rehabilitation, psychoeducation, family meal support and family-based treatment.

The Transitional Youth Program supports youth who have been seen through the CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and now require assistance in navigating the transition to AMHS (Adult Mental Health Services). Services offered include individual and family meetings to assess and determine needs of the youth, outreach to Adult Mental Health to determine capacity to provide care to the youth, as well as, support and education around transitioning to adult services. In addition, some group services are offered in collaboration with Adult Mental Health providers.

Outpatient Services include individual and/or family therapy and can include medical consultation through clinic appointments with adolescent health physicians.

The Outpatient Program provides a range of specialized psychiatric and mental health outpatient services. Clinicians provide assessment, short term intervention, consultation and group therapy. Services are available to respond to the needs of children and youth, along with their families, who are experiencing severe mental health, emotional and/or behavioural problems. This program provides services to children and youth who present with mood and anxiety, abuse and trauma, ADHD, behavioural issues or dual diagnosis (psychiatric and developmental delay).

Services include medical and nutritional, rehabilitation and management, psychoeducation, family meal support, and family based and individually focused treatments.

The crisis intervention program is part of the regional emergency service which provides mental health assessment, specific risk assessments, and recommendations for children and youth who are experiencing a psychiatric emergency.

The inpatient psychiatry program provides crisis stabilization and multidisciplinary assessments for children and youth who are presenting with acute, severe and complex needs who cannot function in a less restrictive setting.
