The Regional Warm Line is a pre-crisis telephone support service that offers a listening ear and peer support. Warm Line staff have experienced their own mental health challenges and turn to their experiences as well as training in peer support,

The Outreach Peer Support Program offers a supportive relationship for individuals who are receiving services from Canadian Mental Health Association Sudbury/Manitoulin’s housing programs. Support may be provided in the form of: one-to-one interactions; group activities that promote creative expression, physical wellness and/or cultural connections; assisting individuals with activities of daily living such as grocery shopping, meal planning or organizing; supporting individuals during medical and community appointments; and connecting individuals to other community services and resources.

In The Artists’ Loft you can work individually or with others developing skills and sharing experiences creatively; The Writers’ Circle will help you this skills to put your experience into words is useful personally and professionally; in Reception Skills program offers a 6 month placement to help people gain employable skills to start building their resumes; in Warm Hearts/Warm Bodies NISA members piece together simple quilts out of donated fabric. Each winter, we donate the quilts to people in need of warmth; or get involved in the ParNorth Research Unit, engaging in research by and for our membership.

This program offers opportunities to explore wellness, with groups often offered in topics like meditation, eating well for the mind, wellness, pet therapy, and yarn work. The Recovery/Wellness group provides discussions on wellness topics, or take part in active living, on our walks or by gardening. Peer support groups exist with a focus on recovery/wellness, and specific groups run for mothers experiencing mental health challenges, francophones, family members supporting loved ones, and those with thoughts of suicide. NISA also offers its members — and the community — the Wellness Recovery Action Plan® course, often called WRAP. During this course you can learn how to unlock mental health recovery by learning more about hope, personal responsibility, education, self-advocacy and finding your support.

The Older Adult Peer Support Program (OAPS) offers free, comfortable, and confidential peer support to older adults in the Greater Sudbury area. This program is for older adults in the Sudbury area, who are struggling with social isolation or are experiencing emotional or mental health challenges. Peer support for older adults is available on-site at NISA in one-on-one or group settings. Our OAPS team can call or visit you where you are most comfortable.
